Make Relief Prints

The three-week live course to kickstart your printmaking practice

Making relief prints in your studio or classroom can be challenging. People invest time, energy, and money to learn printmaking, only to become demoralized when processes and materials don't work together.

In this course, you'll learn the guiding principles of making prints using materials that strike the perfect balance between cost and quality.

The suite of multicolor prints you make will serve as a testament to your progress. Each has a compelling design, expert carving, pinpoint registration, and ready to serve a purpose.

And you'll have the momentum to continue and build on your printmaking practice or introduce it to your students.

Professional Development Case Study

Case Study: Rachel Stiff

Rachel Stiff, an Art Professor contacted me to build a printmaking curriculum for the Fine-Arts division at Western Nevada College.

We planned a week-long printmaking intensive where Rachel would learn how to set up a non-toxic print shop, teach relief, intaglio, and monoprint, and write a curriculum in accordance with her university budget.

“As an artist and professor, I was looking for printmaking techniques to expand my studio practice and teaching curriculum. After a week-long intensive with Charles, I came away with a comprehensive understanding of relief, intaglio, and monotype printmaking techniques, along with non-toxic print shop management practices. Charles is patient, extremely knowledgeable, and loves to celebrate every student's success. Printmaking increases the sense of community and camaraderie in the classroom. My students are proud of what they make! When I have a question and need to troubleshoot, Charles is always there for ongoing support. His ebullient style of teaching and clear instructions make printmaking accessible to all.”
